Take the Bus, Bike the Bizz!
Registration is now closed for the 2011 season!
Lassen Land and Trails Trust has partnered with the Bureau of Land Management and Lassen Rural Bus to provide the community with convenient access to the Bizz Johnson Trail!
Reserve a place for your bike and then simply catch the bus at the Historic Susanville Depot to Devil’s Corral. We’ll shuttle your bike!
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) provides a truck and trailer to shuttle bikes from Susanville to three starting points along the trail. Lassen Rural Bus transports hikers and bike riders as part of its regularly scheduled service between Susanville and Westwood. The shuttles allow people to arrange one-way trips on the trail without having to plan their own vehicle shuttles.
About the Bizz – The Bizz Johnson Trail winds 25.4 miles through the rugged Susan River Canyon from the eastern-most trailhead at the Susanville Railroad Depot to the west end trailhead at Mason Station, 4.6 miles north of Westwood. It follows the old Southern Pacific Railroad’s Fernley and Lassen branch line. The trail features 12 bridges, two tunnels and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The trail is used for multiple activities, including hiking, jogging, mountain bicycling, and horseback riding.
Things to bring – Sunscreen, a hat, extra clothing layers, water, snacks, and a camera!
Trail Courtesy Tips – Bicyclists yield to walker; walkers and bicyclists yield to horseback riders; leash your pet and remove pet waste from the trail!
